If you have your first experience at a spa on the books, you might be feeling both excited and nervous about this new adventure. So to help make sure that your time spent at the spa will be everything that you’ve dreamed of, you’ll want to be as ready as possible for the services or procedures that you’ve booked.
To help you in doing this, here are three things to eat or to avoid eating before you spend a day at the spa.
Drink Water, But Not Too Much
When you’re going to be doing any spa services that will be detoxing your body, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re properly hydrated beforehand. Otherwise, you could experience symptoms of dehydration, which could make your experience less than ideal.
Keep in mind, however, that when you’re drinking water before your day at the spa, you also don’t want to drink too much water. If you get your bladder too full, you may not be able to relax when getting massages. And if you have to keep getting up to go to the bathroom, this could detract from the experience that you were hoping for. So as you’re trying to find the right balance here, make sure you’ve properly hydrated in the days leading up to your spa services but that you don’t drink too much water right before you arrive.
Avoid Any Alcohol
While it’s great to drink water as you prepare for your spa day, one thing that you’re not going to want to drink is alcohol.
The fear with drinking alcohol before you go to the spa is that you might get too relaxed. When this happens, you may not be as sensitive to things like pressure or pain that could happen as part of your spa services. So to ensure that this doesn’t happen to you, and that you maintain proper blood flow throughout your body, it’s best to avoid drinking alcohol before you visit the spa.
Eat A Light Meal That’s Easy To Digest
Depending on how much time you’re planning on spending at the spa, it may be a good idea for you to eat something before you check in. However, you won’t want to eat too much food or food that will be hard for you to digest.
If you’re too full during your spa treatments, you might find yourself getting uncomfortable and not able to relax. So if you’re wanting to eat before you get to the spa, make sure you choose something light that won’t be too hard for you to digest while you’re at the spa.
If you’re going to be going to the spa for your first time and aren’t sure how you prepare, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you know what you eat and drink and what you should avoid consuming.
