Notice anything new in my tagline? Yes, I am devoting this blog to Filipino cooking. Experiments in the sense that I will be cooking Filipino food I’ve tried on my travels around the country. That nilagang baboy with hilaw na langka in an eatery in Digos City.
Or that kinilaw na tilapia from Lake Sebu.

There is also that longganisa in Pangasinan. Did I mention longganisa? Longganisas are one one of my obsessions to make at home. I have yet to perfect my Lucban longganisa, so that experiment is something to share with you. Most of the Filipino recipes (more of Tagalog cooking, really), I learned from my Dad or from my mother’s sister, Nanay Cordia. Dishes I’ve learned to cook since high school. The first dish I remember cooking was ginisang monggo. I cooked this after observing our cook do it every Friday. Did I eat it? Watch for that story in a later post. There is also my pork sinigang, that I cooked from a calendar recipe.
I’ve got recipes lined up to share with you in the coming weeks. However, is there any dish you want me to cook for you? I am welcome to suggestions and requests. Friends and readers are always welcome in my kitchen.
