I know I’ve been gone for ages since my last post, and that was in April! It’s good to be able to finish my degree that took to long in the process. There were a lot of ups and downs, new starts happening, so many changes in my life that blogging really had to take a back seat. One thing for sure, I have not stopped cooking since April.

As I’ve mentioned previously, I am now in General Santos City. Until I finished all my exams, I couldn’t really fully appreaciate living here as a new resident. All my loved ones are far away. But then again, there are new friends to get to know. My colleagues are great people to work with. New found friends (mostly bloggers) let me discover more about Gen San beyond Manny Pacquiao.

What’s funny is that I never really considered myself a blogger until I came here. All I thought about myself is that I love to cook and I love to talk (write) about what I cook. It feels good to be part of the community of bloggers here in Gen San. I’ve made new friends, from Gen San’s most famous blogger to Jinky (who treated us to breakfast and lunch at Olaer resort), Sheng who welcomed me into her family, Cathy who is another foodie like me, Gilbert and his volumes of books… The list is endless as I start taking part in the many activities here – a celebration of life from graduations to fiestas from baby shower to weddings…

Gen San is a bustling city. I enjoy my weekly jaunts to the city as I discover each street corner. There are a lot of fairs going on, concerts (just this week - SIDE A ALL HITS LIVE IN GENSAN) and food trips. The YAMAN GENSAN is currently ongoing and there are a lot of activities such as the YAMAN AWARDS which recognizes Gen San’s entrepreneurs. There is so much in store for YAMAN GENSAN 2009 including a yummy lechon festival which I wanted to attend but couldn’t. Restos such as the GRAB A CRAB RESTAURANT and COFFEE CLUB 101 makes Gen San worthy of a food trip.

One thing I really have to get used to here is cooking for one alone. I really miss cooking for my mom, my dad and my sister. Sundays are worst, since that’s the time I whip something special for them or when friends come over for lunch. But then again, you get used to it. Time to make new activities on Sundays and not to dwell too much on being far from home.
What to expect in the coming days? More cooking, not just tuna which Gen San is famous for. Plus my adventures as I eat my way around Gen San.
